Wife alleges former IPS Sanjiv Bhatt not allowed to move court

New Delhi: Shweta Bhatt, wife of former Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has moved to the Supreme Court, alleging that her husband was being prevented from moving the apex court for relief. On the charges of planting the contraband on a lawyer, Bhatt was suspended from service in 2015 and was later arrested. Gujarat High Court handed over the probe to state CID police.

A bench, led by Justice Ranjan Gogoi, observed that the allegation made by Bhatt’s wife was very serious and grave. Three petitions were filed by Shweta Bhatt before the Supreme Court with a plea to quash the FIR against her husband, set him free from police custody and also set aside the HC order that ordered a CID probe into the drugs case.

According to Shweta, she was forced to approach the court instead of the accused because her husband is in custody and is unable to execute the requisite documents.
