Wife caught cheating husband onboard, forced to divert flight to Chennai

CHENNAI: A spat between an Iranian couple mid-air forced a Bali-bound international flight to make an unscheduled landing in Chennai recently, airport officials said.

The incident happened on November 4 when the couple entered into an argument mid-air, with no amount of efforts by the flight crew to broker peace between them yielding fruit.

While the husband was asleep, the wife reportedly managed to unlock the husband’s phone by using his thumb impression and found evidence that he was allegedly cheating on her. This led to an altercation between the man and his intoxicated wife, reported Times of India.

Subsequently, the pilot of the international airline sought permission to make an unscheduled stopover at Chennai and later offloaded the couple along with their child before resuming the journey to Bali in Indonesia, the officials said.

Immigration officials kept the family at a room in the airport and later put them on a flight to Singapore.

Citing respect for passenger privacy, Qatar Airways did not put out any official statement. “In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases,” Qatar Airways told the Times of India.
