Will ‘Diwali’ be renamed as Deen Dayal Upadhyay Light and Sound Festival?

The BJP is on a name-changing spree in the states it rules. It must be recalled that the Uttar Pradesh government recently renamed Allahabad and Faizabad Prayagraj and Ayodhya respectively, while the Gujarat Chief Minister is considering renaming Ahmedabad as Karnavati.

In Hyderabad BJP MLA Raja Singh has said that he would work towards renaming Hyderabad city as ‘Bhagyanagar’ if BJP wins the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana.

As reported by ANI Raja Singh said that that BJP will win with a majority in Telangana and that its first aim would be to develop the state and the second to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. He further told that the party will also change the names of Secunderabad and Karimnagar.

Mocking at the BJP’s obsession of changing any historic city name that sounds “Muslim”, a humour message is making rounds on social media with the title, ‘Breaking news’ in which it is reported that the centre has decided to change the name of Diwali as there is an ‘Ali’ in it. It will now be renamed as Deen Dayal Upadhyay Light and Sound Festival, states the message.
