‘Will help BJP in 2019 polls’: IPS officer writes to CM Yogi

LUCKNOW: After photographs of an IPS kneeling before CM Yogi with a caption “feeling blessed” went viral, another officer’s letter to the CM promises to help BJP in 2019 poll has stoked a fresh controversy.

According to media reports, Surya Kumar Shukla, an IPS officer and Uttar Pradesh’s Director General, Home Guard on his official letterhead had expressed his desire to ‘actively’ contribute towards the BJP’s 2019 Lok Sabha poll campaign.

Shukla, who is set to retire on August 31, also disgracefully made the proposal for a post-retirement job and expressed his desire to be considered for posts like Planning Commission’s vice chairman and UP Pollution Control Board chairman.

“My pension post-retirement will be enough for me and my family. After my retirement, I would like to actively help you with the campaigning for 2019 Elections. The following posts (Vice-Chairman Planning Commission, Chairman Link Gramodyog Board, Speaker State Social Welfare Board and Chairman UP Pollution Control Board) are vacant under your government. By appointing any of these posts, I will be in a position to help you,” Shukla said in a letter dated July 23, reported News18.
