Krishnagar: A woman was arrested by police for allegedly killing her 45-day old baby girl in Nadia district.
The body of the baby girl was found floating in a pond at Shondnaga area of Dhubulia on Wednesday. The police recovered the body and started an unnatural death case.
During interrogation the baby girls mother Sarifa Khatun broke down and allegedly confessed that she had thrown her baby girl into the pond, a police officer said.
The baby girl was the third child of Sarifa and her husband Juha Seikh. They already had a five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter.
The police produced Sarifa before court here which remanded her to 14-days judicial custody.
