UP: Woman burnt alive for resisting gangrape

Sambhal: In a horrific incident, unidentified miscreants burnt alive a woman by in Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, after she resisted gangrape. According to sources, the woman was trying to resist a gangrape attempt, following which she was set ablaze. The police asked the family of the women to file an FIR and assured that action will be taken against the guilty. Woman’s body is complete charred. It has been sent for post-mortem.

According to different sources, the 35-year-old woman had dialled the police helpline 100 before she was burnt alive. However, her call went unanswered.

DC reported that the woman was first gang-raped and then set afire. Referring to the police, it reported that the woman was sleeping when her attackers barged into her house and gang-raped her. According to the woman’s husband after his wife was gang-raped she narrated the entire incident to her cousin since she could not get through her him or her brother’s phone.

ToI reported before her cousin could seek help from neighbours or the police, the accused came back and dragged the victim to the temple where they torched her at the Yagyashala.

The woman’s husband works as a labourer. The couple has two children.

The five accused had allegedly been harassing the woman for past few months. They have been identified as Aram Singh, Mahaveer, Charan Singh, Gullu and Kumarpal.
