UP woman cop who confronts and arrested BJP leaders, transferred

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh woman cop Shrestha Thakur who stood up against BJP leaders and sent five of them to jail in Bulandshahar district, has been transferred to Bahraich on Saturday.

Thakur, who was part of the Syana circle, made headlines last month after a video footage of her standing up to BJP workers went viral.

She was transferred along with over 150 police personnel other in a major mass shuffle by the UP government.

“I cannot say if my transfer is routine or political, but the fact is that none of my batchmates have been transferred,” Ms Thakur told NDTV.

According to Hindustan Times, Mukesh Bharadwaj, the party city president said the action was taken to “keep the pride of party workers intact.”

The officer was also accused the BJP workers of “doing goondaism. “People will soon start saying that you are BJP’s goondas,” she said.
