Woman drug inspector assaulted in UP; none arrested

Etah: A woman drug inspector was allegedly assaulted by five persons in her office here over an enquiry regarding an illegal medical store, police said today.

Rakesh Kumari, the drug inspector, was beaten up by five persons in her office yesterday over paperwork pertaining to an illegal medical store, they said.

Two of the five accused have been identified as Kailash and Sandeeep Bharadwaj of Kapreta village, police said.

An FIR against the five has been lodged for threatening, assaulting and creating hindrance in government work.

Few days back, the drug inspector was given an enquiry regarding a medical shop owned by Sandeep and his associates but when she visited the location, there was no shop there, following which Kumari submitted a report against the culprits, police said.

She was allegedly followed by Sandeep and other accused after she submitted the report and eventually attacked in her office yesterday, they said.

No arrests have been made so far in this connection and further investigation is underway, police said.
