Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday that a woman in Srinagar chopped her braid to attract attention.
The woman living in Chanapora area of the city had chopped her hair to attract attention as she had been unable to cope with additional responsibilities following the death of her mother and mother-in-law, a police statement said.
Police said earlier an FIR against alleged braid chopping was lodged in Sadder police station after which the woman was shifted to hospital.
“She alleged that some unknown persons had used an anesthetic spray and then chopped her hair. No family member had seen the assailants. After medical examination it was established that there was no evidence of any anesthetic spray used nor was any injury on the body of the victim,” the statement said.
