Hyderabad: In a shocking incident a wife committed suicide on Saturday night after setting ablaze to her drunken husband in Angadi Chittampaly village in Pudur Mandal of Vikarabad district.
The couple had an argument over an incoming call on the Jangaiah’s mobile phone, suspecting that he was having an affair. Savitri had a heated argument and took the extreme step leaving a three-month-old baby boy behind.
The couple got married a year ago and were working as construction workers. On Saturday evening, Jangaiah got a call from an unknown woman. When Savitri inquired about the call he diverted the topic. This made her angry and she poured kerosene on him and set him ablaze.
After few minutes Savitri also ran inside the room and burnt herself. By hearing the screams Jangaiah’s younger brother Raju, who stays next door, rushed to the spot and took them to the hospital.
Police said. “The couple suffered around 90 per cent burns and died while undergoing treatment.” Later the bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem.
