Women playing vital role in Swachh Survekshan programs: Mayor

Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan today said Women were playing a vital role, especially in Swachh Survekshan programs.

The Swachh Mission program, which was started with 120 women representatives as Swachh Dhooths, today the number swelled to 2,200 and participating in Swachh Bharath Mission where they are creating awareness and educating the households about wet and dry segregation of garbage waste covering more than 11 lakh households in the GHMC limits.

The Mayor, Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy, along with senior officials participated in the International Women’s Day celebrations at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan today. After interaction with the Swachh Dhooth women, the officials conducted a lottery to pick 10 swachh Dhooth women to pay cash incentives of Rs 10,000 each and also to select another 10 people, who have given correct answers on mosquito app quiz and cash incentives of Rs 10,000 was also announced to each women as a token of encouragement to them. As a part of CSR activity, ITC has sponsored gift hampers to 10 Swachh dooth women. The Mayor said the GHMC will be utilizing the services of Swachh Dhooth women to make the city free of plastic and pollution in the coming days.

Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said the entire month of March will be celebrated as Swachh Mahila Month by the GHMC. He also praised the services rendered by the Swachh Dhooth women for their effective performance in the Swachh Bharath mission creating awareness about segregation of wet and garbage waste and also educating the households due to their efforts the number of green and blue dust bins distributed to collect garbage have significantly increased.
