Women triseries: Wyatt guides England to record win, beat India by 7-wickets

Mumbai [India]: Opener Danni Wyatt’s 52-ball 124 led England to their highest successful run chase in T20I and a seven-wicket victory over India in the tri-series in Mumbai.

Coming in to bat first, India posted a big total of 198 with help of opener Smriti Mandhana’s record fastest fifty by an Indian batswoman.

A 40-ball 76 from Mandhana along with Mithali Raj’s half-century laid the platform for the hosts’ highest total in the shortest form of the game.

The two stitched 129 runs together for the side before Mandhana perished in the 12th over.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then scored 30 runs off 22 balls while Pooja Vastrakar struck 22 to take India to 198 for the loss of five wickets after their 20 overs.

Chains down the target, Wyatt scored her second century in T20 as England chased down the total with 10 balls to spare.

Her 124-run innings also earned her the Player of the Match.

Wyatt’s opening partner Bryony Smith struck 15, Tammy Beaumont scored 35 while Natalie Sciver scored 12.

India are still winless in the series with two more games to go for them. They will be up against Australia tomorrow. (ANI)
