Won’t be deterred by cowardice acts: Jagan Mohan Reddy

Visakhapatnam: Hours after an attack in Vizag airport on Thursday, Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) president Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted that he would not be deterred by “cowardice acts”.

“To everyone worried about my safety, I would like to inform you that I am safe. God’s grace and love, concern and blessings of people of Andhra will protect me. Such cowardice acts will not dissuade me but only strengthen my resolve to work for the people of my state,” he tweeted.

Reddy, who is the leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly, was attacked with a sharp object at the Visakhapatnam airport earlier today by a canteen worker in the airport.

Initial reports suggested that the YSRCP president was stabbed in his arm with a metal object which looked like a knife. The assailant came close to Reddy reportedly on the pretext of taking a selfie and then attacked him.

Reddy was provided with first aid at the airport lounge after receiving a minor cut in his left arm. He was later taken to Omega Hospital in Hyderabad for medical examination to ascertain whether the knife was laced with poison.
