World’s Largest Recruitment Drive In India, Is It 1 vs 333 ?

The odds of making it as a locomotive pilot in the Indian Railways is 1 against 333. The railways said that it has received nearly 3 crore applications for about 90,000 vacancies, In the largest recruitment drive, railways will by hiring by for about 90,000 posts in group C and group D. This is the highest number of applications received against any vacancies in Indian Railways.

The railway’s ministry had issued a notification for around 63,000 jobs in group D category that includes gangman, and another notification for hiring 26,500 persons as loco pilots and assistant loco pilots. The minimum qualification required for these jobs is high school pass, But a lot of applicants are overqualified and even Ph.D. holders, Graduates and Postgraduates who’re currently unemployed have also pinned their hopes. are applying for the technician’s job.

Question papers will be provided to the candidates in 15 regional languages which include Hindi, English, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Assamese, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu — to ensure opportunities for candidates across India. The railways will conduct the world’s largest computer-based recruitment exam within hours, which earlier took around two months to complete, the ministry said in a statement.

In 2016, the Indian Railways had made a record of sorts by conducting online tests for 92 lakh candidates who had applied for around 18,000 vacancies at that time. It would be nothing short of a feat if the RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) is able to pull off the entrance exam for 3 crore candidates across India.
