Writer of The Cut apologises for article on Priyanka

New Delhi [India], Dec 08 (ANI): Three days after receiving severe backlash for her article on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, the writer of The Cut, an American magazine, apologised to the newly-weds.

The article, which was published days back, sparked rage across social media, after it called Priyanka a ‘global scam artist’ and accused her of ‘defrauding’ Nick into a relationship. The writer also wrote in her article that PeeCee married Nick to get a foothold in Hollywood.

Taking to Twitter, Mariah Smith (writer) took full responsibility of the article and wrote an apology to the couple and the readers.

“I want to sincerely apologise to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas and to the readers I offended and hurt with my words. I do not condone racism, xenophobia, or sexism. I take full responsibility for what I wrote and I was wrong, I am truly sorry.”

Earlier, The Cut also tweeted an apology saying, “An earlier story about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas did not meet our standards. We’ve removed it and apologize.”

Supporting their brother and sister-in-law, Nick’s brother Joe Jonas and his fiancee Sophie Turner also slammed the publication.

Joe wrote, “This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.”

Sophie tweeted, “This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting. Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit.”

Priyanka’s Bollywood buddies, including Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Arjun Kapoor, also lend their support to the ‘Quantico’ star. [source_without_link]ANI[/source_without_link]
