YSRCP national general secretary and MP V Vijay Sai Reddy today announced that his party MLAs would not attend the budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly beginning from Monday as Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao failed to disqualify the 22 YCP MLAs, who joined the ruling TDP.
Addressing the media along with party general secretary Umareddy Venkateswarulu after submitting another petition to the Speaker on the party demand at State party office here on Sunday, Vijay Sai Reddy said though the Opposition party repeatedly appealed to the Speaker to disqualify the 22 defected MLAs, the latter remained calm. He also made it clear that if the Speaker failed to disqualify the defectors, the YCP MLAs would not attend the Assembly.
They also demanded that the Speaker declare Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar as disqualified as he was convicted in a case by Bhimadolu court. They further demanded that the Speaker notify the Denduluru constituency seat vacant following the two-year conviction awarded by the court to Chintamaneni.
Reminding that they had complained to the Speaker, Legislature secretary and Election Commission about the government’s silence on the MLAs defection issue, the YCP leaders pleaded with the Speaker to conduct business in conformity with the Supreme Court orders. They also reiterated that they would table a no-confidence motion against the Centre on March 21 on the issue of special status to AP. They also declared that the YCP MPs would resign from the Lok Sabha as announced earlier. (NSS)
