‘You will not let this country live in peace’: SC rebukes petitioner seeking puja in Ayodhya

New Delhi: Dismissing a plea to conduct puja in temples located on the undisputed sites in Ayodhya, the Supreme Court on April 12, reprimanded the petitioner saying ‘You will not let this country live in peace… Somebody has to always poke.”

According to sources, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, heading a three-judge Bench, asked the counsel for petitioner Pandit Amarnath Misra why somebody always have to ‘poke’ trouble when the process of mediation is still on in connection with the prolonged Ayodhya dispute.

Saying that the process of mediation is already going on, chief justice Gogoi refused to entertain the petition and junked it. The apex court refused to withdraw the Allahabad High Court orders imposing a Rs. 5 lakh cost on the petitioner.
