One of the most common Indian spice that has carved its way in the western world lately, contains enormous benefits. Turmeric is not only anti-bacterial but also help to fight the cold. Experts say the yellow spice may cure a migraine, an ailment that may remain for many days and result in bouts of severe pains in the head region.
Turmeric’s active ingredient curcumin is an antioxidant and is known for its anti-inflammatory effects. “Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric could be beneficial in preventing migraines,” registered dietitian-nutritionist Vanessa Rissetto told Daily Mail.

The dietician further recommends three teaspoons of turmeric to gain its benefits. The acute headache, often accompanied by nausea, is difficult to treat, as its cause remains unknown. Another study conducted by Iranian researchers deduced that turmeric is helpful in fighting migraines. They found omega-3 fatty acids combined with “curcumin” reduced the production of the protein tumour necrosis factor (TNF), which activates neurons, neuroinflammation and pain, the report reveal.
However, there are conflicting opinions as well. University of Minnesota researchers in 2017 found that curcumin can’t be easily absorbed in the human body, and makes it difficult to gain turmeric’s health benefits.
