New Delhi: In what appears to be a case of religious intolerance and discrimination, engineer Aman Khan was fired by a private company for offering Namaz in the office 5 months ago. The case has now reached the National Minority Commission. Acting upon the complaint, the commission issued a notice to the company and sought a reply within 15 days. The case is described as a very sensitive one.
It must be recalled that 5 months ago Expo Electro Engineering India Private Limited Pune had fired engineer Aman Khan for offering Namaz in the office since then he has been running from pillar to post but couldn’t get justice. Aman Khan staged a sit-in for nearly 3 months against the move taken by the company but no action was taken against the company. He also staged a march at Jantar Mantar for a day, but in vain. Now he has knocked at the door of National Minority Commission.
According to Inquilab, chairman National Minority Commission has said that the matter is very sensitive and the Commission has issued a notice to the company seeking a reply within 15 days. He said if required they will summon the manager of the company to the Commission.
As reported by the Inquilab, Aman Khan was a software engineer in a Canada based company of Pune. He has been offering Namaz during his duty hours for the past three years but no one objected to it. He said later he was sent to Canada by the company when he returned from Canada, his manager was changed. One day when he returned to work after offering Namaz his new manager called him to the cabin and objected on his outfit and also on offering namaz.
When the youth told him that offering Namaz is his legal right and no one can snatch it away from him, the manager warned him of dire consequences if he offers Namaz from the next time or talks about the rights. The same thing happens he was sacked on June 12, 2018, without mentioning a reason for his dismissal.
Chairman Minority Commission assured that he will provide justice to the youth.
