Zamzam: Renovation project will be completed before Ramadan, say officials

Makkah: Zamzam well renovation work will be completed before the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the report published in Saudi Gazette, officials informed that renovation work which is being carried out by around 250 Engineers, Technicians and Laborers will be completed before Ramadan.

It is also reported that the project which is intended to renovate historic well includes the building of five Zamzam water transits inside the Grand Mosque complex.

Giving the details of the project, Chief of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais said that the transit will be 120 meters long and 8 meters wide. He also informed that half of the project work is completed.

It may be mentioned that workers stop working half an hour before “Azaan” and again restarts after prayer.

For the safety of the worshippers, only Umrah pilgrims are allowed to enter Mataf around Holy Kabah.

Umrah pilgrims can enter the mosque through gates No. 94, 93, 89, 88, and 87, Saudi Gazette reported.

The second part of the project is to sterilize the water to remove concrete and iron particles from the area surrounding the historic well.

The project is intended to provide better services to the Haj and Umrah pilgrims and to renovate Zamzam well.
