ZPTC, MPTC 3rd Phase polls held peacefully

Hyderabad: The last phase of polling for ZPTC and MPTC was started on Tuesday at 7 am in 9,494 polling stations in 27 districts across Telangana. The state election commission has made all arrangements for smooth and fair polls.

According to information, the polls in the third phase were peaceful without any incident. The poll body informed that percentage of voter turnout was 43.51 at 11 am, 61.23 at 1 pm and 70.05 at 3 pm respectively. The polling was completed at 5 pm in all districts and at 4 pm in naxal-affected districts. On an average, there are Three candidates in fray for one MPTC seat and five candidates for one ZPTC seat, according to information. The results will be announced on May 27 by counting the votes polled in three phases as the first phase was held on May 6 and second phase on May 10.

Repolling was conducted for Alwal in Siddipet and Ajijnagar in Ranga Reddy MPTC posts which were postponed earlier. A total of 46.64 lakh voters are reportedly participated in the elections. Of 1738 MPTCs and 161 ZPTCs, 30 MPTCs posts were elected unanimous. With 5726 in fray, three candidates in fray for each MPTC and with for 741 in fray, five contesting for each ZPTC.
