NIA registers First Human trafficking case in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: NIA registered its first case connected with Human Trafficking, under Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act 1986,  on September 17. The case relates to the arrest of three accused persons namely Mohd. Yousuf Khan, Smt. Bithi Begum w/o Mohd. Yousuf Khan and Sojib, a native of West Bengal but currently staying in Hyderabad,  on 21.04.2019 by Chatrinaka Police Station,  for their involvement in illegal trafficking of Bangladeshi women to Hyderabad and their sexual exploitation. Five such women were rescued from the spot by the police party. On 9.8.2019, this case was transferred from PS Chatrinaka to Central Crime Station.

Brief facts of the case are that two persons viz. Yousuf Ali Khan and Bithi Begum @ Khadija Shaik were running a prostitution racket with illegally trafficked Bangladeshi women in premises near Kandikal gate, Baji Nagar, Uppuguda. Based on credible information, Chatrinaka PS Police had searched the premises on 21.4.2019, arrested three accused persons and rescued five such victims from the premises.

Having regard to the gravity of the offence and it’s interstate and cross border connections,   this case has been taken over by NIA for detailed investigation.
