Nigerian Shia leader Ayatollah Zakzaky forced to leave India

New Delhi: Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky an outspoken and prominent Shi’a Muslim leader of Nigeria left Delhi for his country on the night of Thursday. During his stay, he was not allowed to meet any person. It has also been learnt that several Shia organisations belonging to Pakistan functioning in western countries do not want that Ayatollah Zakzaky is treated in India hence they were busy hatching conspiracies and spreading rumours.

Indian Shia cleric Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad Naqvi expressed sorrow over Ayatollah Zakzaky’s return to Nigeria and slammed those who are playing politics in his name.

Nigerian Shia leader had arrived in India for treatment this week after his health deteriorated in detention in Abuja, Nigeria.

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) had been in custody in Nigeria along with his wife Zeenah Ibrahim since their arrest in December 2015 after violence that saw the army kill some 350 of his followers.
