Omer Jaleel’s services restored; appointed Sec IntermediateBoard

Hyderabad: After suspension of 7 months, services of Syed Omer Jaleel IAS have been restored. Telangana government has appointed him Intermediate Board secretary and Commissioner of Intermediate Education. He will take charge from Dr A Ashok who has been transferred.

Chief Secretary S K Joshma issued GO RT 2434 in this connection. After the suspension of 7 months Syed Omer Jaleel’s services have been restored. He was suspended in February following the controversy over opening of disputed electronic voting machines in election to the Vikarabad Assembly constituency. Syed Omer Jaleel was suspended for opening EVMs and VVPATs, in violation of the Election Commission order.

His appointment as Intermediate Board secretary and Commissioner of Intermediate Education assumes significance in the background of the Intermediate exam results fiasco, which led to several failed students committing suicide a few months ago. The matter was also taken up by the High Court and revaluation of the answer sheets of failed candidates was ordered by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
