Gurugram: A 34-year-old man was arrested under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl here, said a police officer on Tuesday.
According to the police, on Monday morning the accused, Pawan Kumar, saw the girl playing in the street and lured her to the basement of an under-construction house in the Badshahpur area and raped her.
As the girl started crying, the accused thrashed her and threw her in a drain near the crime scene, said Subhash Bokan, PRO of Gurugram Police.
After some time, when her mother started searching for the child, children playing in the area told her that she had gone with an uncle to the nearby under-construction building, the PRO said.
“When she stepped inside the basement, she found the daughter’s cloths. On further search she found her unconscious near the drain with injuries on her private parts. She approached the local police,” Bokan said.
During investigation, the police could identify the accused and arrested him from the city.
