One killed, one injured in Bengal clash

Kolkata: One person was killed and another injured in a clash between two groups, both purportedly owing loyalties to West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, in the state’s South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday, sources said,

Sources said the clashes occurred due to a turf war between two local leaders over the past few days in the Nebukhali area under Basanti police station.

The situation deteriorated later on Monday night and the two groups flung bombs and fired at each other, leaving two injured.

One of them, Sahabuddin Sarkar, passed away at Basanti primary health centre early on Tuesday.

The other wounded youth’s condition is said to be serious.
