Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will distribute a total of 15,38, 742 sarees in the Greater Hyderabad limits, said the civic body on Tuesday.
The State Government had started distributing Bathukamma sarees from Monday.
The corporation has made preparatory arrangements such as formation of ward-level committees, circle level committees and nodal officers to ensure proper receipt for distribution and return of the undisbursed stock in each zone.
The senior officers have been positioned at various levels to conduct the entire programme in a smooth manner. So far, 7,01,200 sarees have been received from the Telangana State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Limited Weavers’ and the balance stock will reach the circle level godowns by Wednesday evening.
