Patient, wife manhandles Doctors, staff over ICU discipline

Thane: Asking a patient to follow discipline in the ICU ended in manhandling of the Doctors and ICU staff of a private hospital in Thane district’s Bhiwandi.

The patient and his wife allegedly manhandled doctors and staff members of the private hospital when they were asked to follow discipline in the ICU on Tuesday, News18 reports.

When the ICU staff asked patient Mustafa Shaikh’s relatives, friends not to crowd the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since it was causing disturbance to other patients, a furious Shaik got up and damaged the monitor and other medical equipment in the ICU.

While he abused the doctors and staff of the hospital, his wife Asma manhandled them, the police official said.

The Narpoli police have registered a case against the couple under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions. (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act, 2010.
