Srinagar: Security cover was enhanced in Srinagar and other parts of the valley ahead of the Republic Day on Monday as a large number of forces are deployed around Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, which is the venue for Republic Day Function in Srinagar.
Random frisking and checking of vehicles was being done at several places, especially in and around the venue of the parade as more barricades were set up to search vehicles on this route.
IGP Police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said that the situation is under control and said that the parade day will pass without any untoward incident. “A multi-layered security has been put in place and the area is being frisked and checked properly”. He said drones are also being put in for Ariel surveillance of the area.
