Photos: Thousands offer Friday prayers at Kashmir’s Khanyar shrine

Srinagar: Thousands of people after Friday prayers converged at Khanyar, a downtown locality of Srinagar city in order to have a glimpse of the holy relic from the saint whose mausoleum is situated in Baghdad, Iraq.

People, including women and children offered Friday prayers in and outside the shrine and nearby roads and got a glimpse of the holy relic after the prayers.

Thousands of Muslim devotees offered Friday prayers on the eve of Urs of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani popularly known as Dastgeer Sahib at Khanyar Shrine.

The Urs of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani is observed every year on the 11th Islamic month which attracts thousands of Muslim Devotees from across Kashmir to have a glimpse of the holy relic, which is believed to be a hair strand from the beard of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani.

However no night prayers were allowed by the management of the shrine due to Covid-19 pandemic.
