Polling continues under heavy security in J-K’s Anantnag

Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir): Voting continues in Kulgam since 7 am amid high security for the second phase in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag parliamentary seat.

The voting is being held in four assembly segments of Kulgam district — Noorabad, Devsar, Kulgam and Homshalibugh. Voters have come out in large numbers to cast their votes.

Mohammad Rafique Khan after casting his vote told ANI: “I cast my vote today to protect Article 370 and 35A. I will urge all my Kashmiri brothers to come out to vote to save our community from the onslaught of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).”

Mohammad Ashraf, another voter from booth number 89 said: “I cast my vote in booth number 89 today, the main issues here are unemployment and to bring the situation in the valley under control. We need an MP who will raise the issues of Kashmiris in the Parliament. In the past, all the MPs we chose, have not done that. We need change now.”

Polling for the second phase of the three-phase elections will come to an end at 4 pm instead of 6 pm following a request from the State Police.
