Poster advocates water conservation, legalizing water connection

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan along with the Chief General Manager, M. Swamy and General Manager, S. Kiran released a poster on “stop wastage of water and regularize your illegal water connection” on Wednesday. Mayor appealed to the citizens to utilize the opportunity given by the Government to regularize illegal water connection in the City by voluntary disclosure.

Mayor said the HMWS&SB supplying water by drawing nearly 200 Km distance from Krishna and Godavari rivers. Filtering 472 MG at the cost of Rs.47 per 1,000 litres. HMWS&SB supplying 214.73 Cr litres of water per day for 1 cr. population. Out of this, nearly 37% of is unaccountable which is in the form of waste and illegal connection.

Earlier the penalty for illegal connection collecting 2 times connection charges and 3 years of user charges bill. In order to streamline the illegal connections and to get monthly user charges bill, the MA&UD issued a G.O. 690 dt. 24.10.2019. within 3 months for the period from 22nd November 2019 to 21st February 2019.

Further, Mayor said those who are willing to regularize the illegal connections during Voluntary disclosure scheme, by paying Rs.10, 000 normal water connection charges they should approach the nearest HMWS&SB office or register through officials website www.hyderabadwater.gov.in or dial 155313 for assistance.
