Pragya must categorically say Godse isn’t a patriot: Owaisi

New Delhi: Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi rejected the apology of Madhya Pradesh MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur for her remarks on Gandhi’s murderer.

He said “You (LS Speaker) said that remarks (by BJP’s Pragya Thakur) aren’t on records. It’s an egregious breach, goes against the basic standard of conduct of a member. The member should categorically say that Godse isn’t a ‘deshbhakt’, he’s a terrorist and murderer of Gandhi.” Hans India quoted him as saying.

Pragya Thakur had called Nathuram Godse a deshbhakt, in the parliament. After she was removed from the parliamentary defence panel and banned from attending BJP party meetings, she apologized in the Lok Sabha on Friday and said her statements were misquoted.

However, Opposition continued to protest against her statements saying her statements were conditional and insisted that she apologise unconditionally.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor sought Thakur’s expulsion from BJP on her remarks. He said Sadhvi Pragya has called Godse a patriot inside the House, in such a case that there should be strong action.

Besides other opposition leaders, BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali also demanded that Thakur’s remarks in which she tries to project herself as a victim while referring to the court case should also be expunged.
