Pro-CAA man alleges he was not allowed to pray in mosque

BAREILLY: An imam of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district is accused of allegedly stopping a man and his son from offering namaz because they supports the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

According to Times Of India reports, the elderly Idris Ahmed has lodged a complaint at the Moradabad police station alleging that imam Anees Miyan of ‘Chand’ mosque in Siraskheda had been misleading the locals against CAA and NRC.

“The imam also instigated locals with his anti-national sermons in the mosque,” Ahmad alleged.

Ahmad further said that the imam not only denied permission but also threaten him with dire consequences.

He also alleged that his son, Mohammed Khakan, was not allowed to step into the place of worship.

But the imam has categorically denied the allegation and issue a clarification and counter allegation.

“I have certain differences over theological matters with him. We had an argument once and his son was also present. Upon confronting them, his son started manhandling me.”

The SP Amit Kumar Anand said that the Moradabad police are investigating the matter.
