JAIPUR: Four Kashmiri students of Mewar University in Rajasthan have been allegedly beaten up by fellow students on Friday, November 22.

The attacked students have been identified as—Bilal Ahmad, an LLB student, Isfaq Ahmad Qureshi, a BTech student, and Mohammad Ali, a student of B Pharma – all received minor injuries.

One of the thrashed students  identified as Tahir Majeed, who is pursuing his BBA had to be hospitalized after he was suffered serious injures. 

“Four Kashmiri students’ beaten up, One Injured in Meewar University Rajasthan. Students were thrashed by a mob of 70 people. They said we were attacked with knifes, rods. The Students who were thrashed by Mob were identified bilal Ahmad dar, (LLB Student),” said spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir students’ association Nasir Khuehami in a Facebook post.

The scuffles ensued after a gate pass was issued to a Kashmiri student and denied to a student from Bihar, reports Times of India

The situation was resolved at the time after the University Dean and the Proctor intervened in the matter but a mob of close to 70 students from Bihar carrying knives and rods beaten up the Kashmiri students mercilessly at night inside the college mess.

Bilal Ahmed told The Wire: The students from Bihar had behaved very rudely. They even called us terrorists.

The SHO, who refuse to accept the complained from the Kashmiri students and even failed to address the issue, has been removed from the post.

It is reported that over 30 students from Kashmir were studying at the Mewar University.
