Ramzan Moon sighting: Holy month to start on this date in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: In Saudi Arabia, UAE and other neighbouring countries, Moon was not sighted in the evening of Saturday. Hence, in the Middle East Countries, Ramzan will start on Monday, 6th May. This was notified by issuing a notification by Ulema Council of Saudi Arabia.

It may be mentioned that in addition to official committee, citizens of the country also participate in Moon sighting process.

A place called Houta Sadeer is identified as the Moon sighting place since it is equipped with the latest gadgets in its observatory. Attempts are made with the help of electronic telescope for sighting the Moon.

Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia had issued instructions to make an attempt to sight the Moon on Saturday, 29th Shabaan, 1440 AH.

According to the Islamic principle, men and women stand witness to the sighting of the Moon.

Saudi astronomer, Mr. Abdullah Al Khaziri announced that in Saudi Arabia, Shabaan month will be of 30 days and Ramzan will start on Monday, 6th May.
