RECONCILIATION AND HARMONY

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

An-Nawawi records in his book Riyad us-Saliheen:

Allah the Exalted said:

No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or kindness or reconciliation between people.

Surat An-Nisa 4:114

And Allah said:

Settlement is best.

Surah An-Nisa 4:128

And Allah said:

Fear Allah and reconcile between yourselves.

Surat Al-Anfal 8:1

And Allah said:

The believers are but brothers, so make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.

Surat Al-Hujurat 49:10

Abu Huraira, RadhiAllahu Anhu, reported: The Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said:

Charity is due upon every joint of the people for every day upon which the sun rises. Being just between two people is charity. Helping a man with his animal and lifting his luggage upon it is charity. A kind word is charity. Every step that you take towards the mosque is charity, and removing harmful things from the road is charity.

Umm Kulthum, RadhiAllahu Anha, reported: The Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said:

He is not a liar who reconciles people by saying something good or inventing something good.

Aisha, RadhiAllahu Anha, reported: The Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, heard the loud voices of two men in a dispute at the door. One was asking the other to lessen his debt and was pleading with him to show leniency, and the other said, “By Allah, I will not do that!” The Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, came out to them and he said:

Where is the one who swore by Allah that he would not do good?

The man said:

O Messenger of Allah, it was me. Now he may have what he wanted.
