Rescued sloth bear brought to Hyderabad zoo

Hyderabad: Telangana forest department officials rescued a sloth bear which had strayed into residential areas in Koilkonda
mandal of Mahbubnagar district in the early hours of Sunday.

The sight of the bear in the area left residents of Koilkonda panic-stricken. Forest officials later tranquilised and rescued the bear after receiving a complaint from locals.

The animal received a few minor injuries but is safe. It is now in Hyderabad zoo and
undergoing treatment, forest officials said.

Veterinarians from the zoo said the bear is recovering and is being fed. Soon after it recovers, it will be released back into the forest. It is believed to have ventured out from the Koilsagar forest area.
