RSS may shun its Hindu Rashtra ideology: Maulana Madani

New Delhi: Maulana Arshad Madani, chief of Deoband-based Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind recently met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat.

As reported by The Quint, Maulana Madani revealed that during the one-and-a-half-hour meeting, Mr Bhagwat hinted that they will be in touch in the future and the dialogue will continue.

When asked who initiated the meeting, Mr Madani told that ‘There were some people in the middle who asked if I wanted to meet Bhagwat ji, I said it was a good idea’.

Maulana Madani claimed ‘Bhagwat ji never said anything that the head of the state would want a Hindu Rashtra. Nothing like that was brought up during the meeting.’

Saying that the state of the country is heading towards destruction, the economy is either already destroyed or heading towards destruction, Maulana Madani said, in this scenario, it is possible that one’s thought process changes from what it was till yesterday. He further claimed that Mohan Bhagwat said the RSS is not beholden to those views anymore.

On the question ‘Will you be soft in your criticism of the RSS hereon?’ Maulana said, ‘If the RSS is soft with us, why should we not be?’

Saying that neither triple talaq nor NRC issue was discussed during the meeting Maulana Madani said, ‘The point of this meeting was to discuss how to bring peace to this country.’
