RSS worker hurled bombs at police station; CCTV footage confirms

Thiruvananthapuram: During the state-wide hartal called by the Sabarimala Karma Samithi on Thursday, bombs were thrown at the Nedumangad police station. The person has been identified by the Nedumangad police as RSS worker.

According to the News Minute, Praveen, an RSS pracharak, was seen hurling bombs at the police station towards a group of policemen on CCTV footage. In the video, Praveen can be seen taking aim at the station and throwing multiple bombs he was carrying in a bag.

The bandh was called to protest against the entry of two women in Sabarimala temple on Wednesday morning, and to mark the death of Sabarimala Karma Samithi worker Chandran Unnithan. Chandran died in a stone-pelting incident in Pandalam, which took place over the women’s temple entry issue.

Praveen is an RSS worker from Nooranad in Alappuzha. Police told that he had gone into hiding after the incident took place, and has not been arrested yet.

Nearly 1-minute footage shows Praveen hurling bombs on the police station, he was surrounded by a few men. According to media reports, at least 5 people were injured in the bomb attack.
