RTC strike completes ten days

Hyderabad: The indefinite strike started by Telangana State RTC employees’ union completed its ten days. In Khammam District, bandh was observed yesterday after an RTC bus driver committed suicide.

It may be mentioned that after a few hours of the death of bus driver Srinivas Reddy, a bus conductor by name Surender Goud also committed suicide in his house by hanging himself.

According to the details, the bus driver, Srinivas Reddy who was associated with Narsampet RTC bus depot had sprinkled petrol on his body and immolated. However, police had intervened and foiled his attempt.

Later, he was shifted to hospital where he died during the treatment.

Commissioner of Police, Khammam, Mr. Tafseer Iqbal told the press reporters that the bandh was peaceful. The employees unions of RTC have been agitating to merge their organization into State Govt. and to revise their salaries. CM of TS, Mr. KCR has taken a tough stand and said that striking employees will neither be taken back into service nor negotiated.
