A-SAT missile fired: A feather in the cap of Hyderabad’s DRDO

Hyderabad: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) fired an Anti-Satellite Missile from Abdul Kalam Island in the Bay of Bengal yesterday. It is a feather in the cap of this organization.

It may be noted that the father of India Missile Project and former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had set up a research campus by name Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in Hyderabad in 1988.

The scientists associated with RCI had developed this missile.

The chairman of DRDO, Dr. Satish Reddy who was present at Dr. Abdul Kalam Azad Island told that DRDO developed this technology which has the capacity to hit the target at a distance of few centimeters.

He further told that although India is in a position to hit the target at a higher distance but as a responsible nation, it has successfully hit at a target located at lower height.
