Saudi crown prince says putting Uighur Muslims in concentration camps is Beijing’s ‘right’

Saudi crown prince says putting Uighur Muslims in concentration camps is Beijing’s ‘right’

Defending China’s use of concentration camps for Muslims, Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Friday defended saying it was Beijing’s “right”. As reported by the Telegraph, Chinese state television quoted him as saying, “China has the right to carry out anti-terrorism and de-extremisation work for its national security.” Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been in China signing multi-million trade deals.

It must be noted an estimated one million Uighur Muslims have been detained in concentration camps by China, where they are undergoing re-education programmes allegedly intended to combat extremism.

Uighur groups had appealed to Saudi crown prince to take up their cause, but Mohammed bin Salman is reported to have defended China’s move.
