SCR Records 100 million tones in Freight loading and earns Rs. 8655 Crore

Hyderabad: South Central Railway has transported a record 100.052 Million Tonnes (MTs) of highest ever Freight up to 31st January, 2019 during the current Financial Year. The achievement in freight loading is around 17.433 MTs more when compared to the previous financial year loading for the same period, which was 82.619 MTs. The zone is striving hard to continue the consistent performance to reach highest ever tonnage transportation of freight o­n its network. SCR is likely to reach 120 MTs by the end of this financial year. The freight earnings of SCR also reached to a new height of Rs. 8655 Cr. These earnings registered a healthy growth of around 26% resulting with Rs. 1764 Crore more revenue as compared to previous Financial Year’s freight revenue. R. K .Kulshrestha, General Manager, South Central Railway complimented SCR Team for the best performance of crossing the 100 Million Tonnes mark in freight loading.

Amongst the major commodities contributed for the record loading are, the loading of Coal to the extent of 53.555 MTs, Cement Loading was 22.948 MTs, Fertilizers 5.374 MTs, Imported Iron Ore loading 5.183 MTs; Food Grains 3.925 MTs, Raw Material for Steel Plants 2.275 MTs and loading of other goods was 5.07 MTs.

The improvement in the loading as compared with last year ismajorly due to increase in the loading of Coal by 31% ; Imported Iron Ore loading by 360%; Cement loading by 10%; Fertilizers loadingby 7%and container loading by 26%.The overall loading is 100.052 Million Tones, which is 21 % higher than last year loading for the same period.
N. Madhusudana Rao, Principal Chief Operations Manager stated that the improvement in loading of Coal is instrumental in incremental hike in loading of SCR. The active and extended co-operation from the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has been important partner in the exemplary loading performance of the zone. He also stated that the highest ever loading was possible due to the incremental traffic of 5.523 Million Tonnes over previous year freight moved from the Singareni Collieries Company Limited, which has offered 38.384 Million Tonnes during the current financial year up to January 2019, which is around 17% more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. N.Madhusudana Rao congratulated Shri B.Nagya, Chief Freight Traffic Manager and the entire SCR team for their hard work and commitment in reaching the mile stone performance.
