Second Coronavirus case confirmed in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja has confirmed another case of coronavirus after the individual identified as a student from the Wuhan region has been admitted to Alappuzha medical college hospital.

But so far the results of the tests are yet to arrive but the NIV has informed that is a coronavirus suspect case.

“The government can confirm that it is a positive case only if the test results are made available. However, the people who have come in direct contact with this student have been put under isolation and the family members under observation,” she said.

The patient under isolation is said to be stable and has not developed any serious symptoms.

The Press Information Bureau in Delhi, however, confirmed the infection in a statement.

“Both patients were infected in China and we are ensuring that it is not spread to anyone from them,” she added.

As man as 59 samples have been sent for testing to NIV in Pune of which 24 results have come.
