Sitapur: A 16-year-old was gang-raped during recess by her cousins and her teacher who took turns in accomplishing the crime punished the minor for ranking first in class, sources from IANS reported today.
Among the five accused, four were cousins to the minor victim and were living with her in a joint family felt humiliated with her scores and decided to take revenge. They sedated her food and reportedly raped her inside the staff room of government school premises in UP’s Sitapur city.
The shameful incident came to light on Friday when one of the accused who filmed the incident released the video on the family’s WhatsApp group, scroll reports.
Furious over the crime, the victim’s parents approached the police and filed an FIR against the five accused on Saturday. One of the five accused as been arrested while four are absconding.
“Once the girl was sedated, the youths and their teacher took turns to rape her while one of them filmed the act on a mobile phone,” the news agency quoted Additional Superintendent of Police [North] Madhuvan Kumar Singh as saying.
“When she regained consciousness, she was told she fainted on the playground and was hence brought to the staff room.”
A preliminary inquiry has revealed that the cousins reportedly wanted to “cut her to size” for excelling in her exams.
According to sources, the victim claimed that she had been raped by her cousins several times in the past two years.
