Siddipet: R Shankar who was declared brain dead following a road accident. The victim has given new lease of life to seven persons after his family agreed to donate his organs which includes heart.
According to a report published in Telangana Today, R Shankar was a native of Mamidyala in Mulug Mandal, met with an accident on Rajiv Rahadhari expressway on Saturday.
Police officials took the victim and rushed to the nearest area hospital at Gajwel. Later he was shifted to Yashoda hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors declared him as brain dead.
Following the suggestion of doctors, his wife Chandrakala and relatives have accepted to donate organs of the victim. Shankar’s heart was donated to a youth, who was suffering from heart disease. The doctors have transplanted the heart successfully to a 23-year-old youth at Century hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The organ donor, survived by wife Chandrakala, daughter Renuka, and son Bunny was laid to rest at his village on Sunday.
The locals urged the Telangana Government to support the bereaved family since they have donated the organs through ‘Telangana Jeevandhara’ following the suggestion of doctors.
