Smriti Irani takes jibe over SP-BSP alliance, says elephant over cycle would puncture the ride

Kanpur: In an apparent reference to the SP-SP”>BSP alliance”>SP-SP”>BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday dubbed the tie-up as failure, adding that when an elephant (SP”>BSP’s symbol) sits on a cycle (SP’s symbol), the tyre is bound to get punctured.

Talking about SP-SP”>BSP alliance”>SP-SP”>BSP alliance, she said, “When an elephant (SP”>BSP’s symbol) sits on a cycle (SP’s symbol), the tyre is sure to get punctured.”

Addressing a public rally here, Irani also asked the voters to not let the Congress come to power by alleging that they have robbed the country’s treasury.

“The hands which looted India’s treasure for years, don’t let it even come near its treasury,” she said.

The Union Minister was in Kanpur to appeal to voters for casting their vote in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the ensuing general elections.

It is worth mentioning that SP, SP”>BSP and RLD have forged an alliance to take on the BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The SP-SP”>BSP alliance has left Rae Bareli and Amethi seats for the Congress. As per the seat-sharing agreement, the SP is contesting 37 seats and SP”>BSP 38.

Three seats have been given to the RLD — Mathura, Muzaffarpur, and Baghpat.
The Lok Sabha elections have been scheduled to start from April 11 and will go on till May 19 in seven phases.

The polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in all seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
