Indian woman cricketer Smriti Mandhana made history on Wednesday after she scored a 24-ball half-century, fastest by an Indian woman, in the first T20 International against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
She was dismissed by Amelia Kerr for 58 runs when India were 102 for two, 58 runs away from the target. However, India lost the first T20I match by 23 runs against New Zealand. She smashed three boundaries and seven sixes in her spectacular 34-ball knock.
Recently, She had moved up three spots to attain the number one rank in the ICC ODI batting rankings. After scoring her fourth ODI century and an unbeaten 90 in the three-match series against New Zealand, Mandhana now sits above the Australians Ellyse Perry and Meg Lanning.
She has been in exemplary form and has scored two centuries and eight half-centuries in 15 games since the beginning of 2018.
