Swine Flu: 4 from NALSAR detected positive, 214 cases in January

HYDERABAD: On Sunday, 4 female students of NALSAR university were admitted to Gandhi hospital, they were tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

The superintendent of Gandhi hospital, Dr P Shravan Kumar said, “All four students are in a stable condition. They were admitted as a precautionary measure. During tests, they were found to be positive and have been kept isolated from other patients.”

As per the official records, a total of 214 positive cases have been recorded in the state from January 1 to January 22.

Experts directed to take precautionary measures like staying away from crowded places and maintaining basic hygiene as the virulence of the virus is expected to remain high due to lower temperatures.

“Low temperature makes the atmosphere highly conductive for the virus to spread. Since the temperature has been hovering around 10-15 degrees, virus activity has remained high,” explained a state health department official.
